Understanding your Parenting Personality Color

Are you searching to gain clarity around your parenting? Understanding who our children are and how they've been uniquely created can deepen your relationship and ease parenting frustrations. But for this to work, you must also know what color you are! Take our Colors Quiz to learn what color you are and the strengths and challenges of your hue.

—Yellow Moms—

If you are a yellow, you're always in search of a friend to call because you LOVE people. Yellows are inherently optimistic and passionate about life. They are "people" people. And they love everyone, and everyone loves them.

Yellows also love the excitement and new things, which means they can be highly impulsive and don't always think things through. Details are tedious, discipline isn't exciting, and their feelings can tend to trump logic. The mundane world of a mom is just plain boring to yellow moms on some days.

Spice up a dull day with fun! Fun is what you do best! Go get ice cream for dinner, pile everyone in the car and go on an adventure just because, or ask your child to make decisions for the day! Sprinkling joy is a gift you can give your family and your friends. Use that gift every day and spread that joy!

—Red Moms—

Red Moms are fiercely loyal and decisive. They are strong leaders and hard workers. They see things in a positive light and have a "can-do" attitude, which makes running a household something they do well and seemingly with ease.

But when they are not walking by the Spirit, reds can be blunt and rude. They want their own way, think they are always right, and use anger to control situations. A Red Mom's desire for control is usually her greatest weakness when it comes to parenting. You don't need to be in control to have worth, be successful as a mom, and keep your child safe.

Use your positivity and can-do attitude and follow your child's cues for the day. Let them take charge and see what new things they will come up with. Maybe you'll end up trying a new restaurant, having dinner for breakfast, or spending the day playing while the dishes pile up.

—Blue Moms—

Blue Moms are such a gift to their families! You are introverted, a deliberate thinker, and sensitive and attuned to the emotional environment of your home and your children. You enjoy researching options and love to make plans for your family. You love to set goals and maintain high standards. You process emotions before expressing them, which means it's rare that you lose your temper – what a strength in raising children!

Do you relate to the word "Perfectionist"? Good enough is not good enough for you. And when your children say hurtful things, you have a hard time blowing it off; instead, you think and dwell on the comment. That's your sensitive nature at work.

As a Blue, use your sensitive side to connect with your family. Ask questions like "would you rather..." or find a list of questions online that would make your child think. They can be silly questions, serious questions, and every type in between!

—Green Moms—

The most easy-going of all the temperaments, moms who are 'green' are a calm and steady presence in their homes. Surprisingly, they are also likely to get the most frazzled from time to time. That's because greens are natural peacekeepers, and because life is not always peaceful, especially in a family, greens can easily become frustrated.

As a Green, establishing boundaries is extremely important to keep the peace within yourself. Sometimes your home can get out of control because of your child's behavior. While it may be challenging, addressing the child's behavior will help prevent a bad habit from forming.

Take time for yourself to recharge and invite your child to join you on a self-care day. Soak your feet, watch your favorite show, and talk about setting goals for things like good behavior, their favorite activity, or something they want to accomplish.

Take our Colors Quiz to learn your color and answer the questions for your child to learn more about their color. Knowing what colors make up your household will give you clarity on how everyone processes their world and provide opportunities for better communication and parenting.
