WT 90: Happy Holidays! A Special Note for Moms

A special episode for holiday well wishes and encouragement from Birds on a Wire. Merry Christmas, moms!

Question 1: What is your prayer for moms as they enter the final week of the Christmas season and the New Year?

Karen's Answer: My prayer for moms is that they would invite Jesus into their journey of motherhood and not just during the Christmas season, but throughout the year. That's why I wrote the 365 day devotional Moments with God for Moms as well as our newest book, the Gratitude Journal. Be aware of His presence. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Rev 3:20, meaning He wants to have fellowship with us!

Question 2: What is a way moms can reflect, celebrate and practice gratitude in their hearts for everything that happened in their life over the past year?

Karen's Answer: Start writing it out, when you do you will see how blessed you are and you will naturally give praise and thanks. Give praise and gratitude for all things big and small. We take so much for granted. Again, that's why I wrote the Gratitude Journal specifically for moms.

Question 3: Do you have any words of encouragement for moms who are having a hard time over the holidays season either because of stressful circumstances, grieving a loved one, etc?

Karen's Answer: Holidays can be sad, sad for what you don’t have and sad for what you’ve lost. Acknowledge that and give thanks for what you do have. Try to find contentment in the season you are in and pray that 2018 will be a better year.

Question 4: What is your hope for moms and Birds on a Wire as we look forward to 2018?

Karen's Answer: It truly is for moms to include Jesus in their daily lives, without Him it’s too hard in my opinion. I journaled often as a young mom when I was struggling and cried out to God asking for wisdom, and that's what got me through. Remember that Jesus says,"If you draw near to me I’ll draw near to you." Start today! Cry out and say Lord, I need you!

New exciting things for BOAW in 2018 include the tour - we have three cities confirmed and hopefully more coming! Check the website and follow us on social media for updated details. I hope to write a new curriculum about how to have the difficult conversations with your children. We also have plans to step up our social media posts to help encourage moms on a regular basis where they are - and that's online these days.

Moms, we know your time is precious. Thank for spending it with us. We hope you feel encouraged, equipped and most importantly—the peace of God. If you want to have weekly encouragement emailed to you, visit birdsonawiremoms.com to sing up for free weekly tips of motherhood.
